How to get to Khaolak

Khaolak is about 850 kms from Bangkok. You can get there by plane, by bus or by train.

By plane :

The nearest airport is Phuket International Airport (75 kms from Khaolak). There are several airlines operating daily flights from Bangkok to Phuket such as Thai Airways International and Bangkok Airways. The flight time is about 1 hour and 20 minutes. From the airport, you can take a taxi costing around 1,500 baht or buses operating hourly that you have to come out to the main road (air-conditioned bus costing around 100 baht/person and ordinary bus costing around 70 baht/person). It takes 1-1h30 (or a bit more by bus) to get to Khaolak.

By road :

The trip is much more longer, around 13 hrs. There is a regular inter-provincial bus service from Bangkok (Southern Bus Terminal) to Phang-Nga (and Phuket) ; air-conditioned buses leaving only early evening (approximately 6 p.m.) or ordinary buses usually departing early morning and take longer journey time.

Krathom Khaolak Resort is located in the centre of Khaolak, on Pechkasem Road .When you arrive at Khaolak, please ask to get off at the bus stop nearby Nang Thong Minimart (200 metres) or Khaolak Minimart (50 metres).

By train :

You have to take a train from Hualumphong Station, Bangkok to Surat Thani. There are various classes of seating ; ordinary, air-condition or overnight sleeper service, available at prices 200-1,200 baht. The journey takes around 12 hrs. Arrival time at Surat Thani is early in the morning. Then you could take buses from Surat Thani direction Phuket or Phang-Nga via Khaolak.

Bank service: There are several banks providing exchange service ; opening hours 08h30-15h30 on week day. The cash service distributors could be easily found in the centre.

Security : The warning systems are installed at beaches of Khaolak.

Health : The hospital nearby is at Takupa, about 30 kms. However, there are dentist clinic and some medical clinics including Clinic Dr.Seree at Khaolak.

Post : The nearest post office is at Lamru, about 10 kms. You could find also the post boxes in the centre. The stamps are sold at the post office or stationary stores.
